Gettysburg is Fun!

So I am back to my original idea, I promise this time.  I chose to keep it single and to the point.  I live in Gettysburg, what a really nice place to live.  There’s so many great restaurants, pubs, and fun things to do.  Check out my blog as I dine my way through Gettysburg, and check out all the local fun!

I’ve lived in Gettysburg now for over a year, but have been coming to Gettysburg since I was 16-years-old, and actually came here to tour when I was about 10 or 11.  It’s only been recently that I have become interested in the Civil War.

Gettysburg has such a rich history of the Civil War and the Battle of Gettysburg.  People gather from all over the country and even other countries to visit Gettysburg.

I have worked in Gettysburg for about three years now, and every summer, people pour in from all over the place.  Just recently, Gettysburg celebrated its Remembrance Weekend.

Civil War rein-actors dress up, set up camp and re-live the Civil War.  It’s really quite fascinating to watch all of the rein-actors in their costumes.

Many rein-actors set-up camp right along the edge of the road in front of one of the museums a few blocks down from the restaurant that I work at.  Drummer boys march down the road followed by men dressed as soldiers and women in Civil War period dresses.

Every year, a notable person, or actor comes to Gettysburg to stand on a platform in the Soldier’s National Cemetery to deliver Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address.  Last year, actor Richard Dreyfus was the speaker, this year, it was actor, Steven Lang, who played in movies Avatar and Gettysburg.

Well I hope everyone enjoys reading my blog, and I will try my hardest to keep updating posts, keeping you all informed on what is new and fun in and around Gettysburg!  Enjoy!

  1. In the next few posts, work on better defining what you’re trying to do here. It seems a little all over the board. You want your readers to have an idea of what to expect when they go to read you.
